Halloween, invited to a party with friends, whip out the Nikon F50 loaded with Kentmere Pan 400. Evening ends, back home, decide to develope the roll.
Flub number one it’s a roll of 36 exposures. I had decided to cut corners and tray develope in the darkroom. My wingspan does not encompass a 36 exposure roll, ergo poor or uneven panning of the film through the trays. When this dawned on me the cat as you could say was out of the bag, or film out of the canister.
Flub number two the exhausted developer. I had failed to realize how many times I had used my developer. This resulted in images, albeit ones that look like they were captured with a disposable camera with expired film.
And the finale, unable to locate the hanger to dry the finished film. By this point the concern of artifacts or damage caused by simply draping the film to dry was out the window.
Lessons were learned? Moving forward check, double check, hell triple check. Or roll with the punches.
